Mexican Merkamobil chosen Russian platform WINGS
A mobile content provider Merkamobil (Mexico) and WINGS
Software House (Moscow) have announced a deal to
implement the mobile platform WINGS Communication Server
at the content provider. Merkamobil provides mobile value
added services in Mexico and in some other countries of the
Latin America.

Kaspersky Lab protects against MMS viruses
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content
management solutions, will provide antivirus protection
of MMS messages for Russian customers of Beeline.
The partnership will ensure all multimedia messages sent
via the Beeline network, both incoming and outgoing,
are scanned for malicious code. The software that scans
MMS messages for malware is based on Kaspersky® Anti-Virus
for Mail Servers, which is part of Kaspersky® Corporate
Suite, the company's modular solution for corporate
customers. "Beeline is the first Russian cellular operator
to offer protection against MMS viruses," said Dmitry
Ustyuzhanin, head of information security at VimpelCom,
the parent company that owns the Beeline network.

VimpelCom and Google signed cooperation agreement
The second largest Russian cellular operator VimpelCom
(Beeline brand) and American Google Inc. signed a
cooperation agreement. According to a press release,
the operator will use mobile technologies, search
services and mobile content from Google. The agreement
details are not disclosed.

AXE brand offering to play AXE ClickMan Java game
Mobile game AXE ClickMan will promote a new AXE odor ?LICK
for men. The new Java game is available to download over
WAP site wap.axeffect.ru ($0.3). The game players can send
their game scores to AXE SMS center to participate in a
contest AXE MegaCliker. The contest winner will receive a
scooter PGO T-Rex 50cc, the second and third positions will
get ARCHOS Gmini 402 comcorder and SONY Playstation Portable.

INFON launching DJ tones
St. Petersburg based mobile provider INFON and DJ Kosinus &
DJ Slutkey invented a new type of ringtones. Instead of
standard ringtones users can download real new DJ sets
recorded exclusively for mobile devices. The product is
focused on active night clurbers who will be able to listen
popular club mixes. Currently the INFON's catalog is offering
10 DJ tones.

PlayMobile will represent IndiaGames in Russia
Mobile content provider PlayMobile (Next Media Group)
singed a contract to represent IndiaGames in Russia
and surrounding countries. Interesting that in June 2005
another Russian provider of wireless entertainment PlayFon
got exclusive rights for distribution of the games
from Indiagames in the Russian market.

A1 and Huawei Technologies offering mobile TV solution
At a recent telecom show Svyaz-Expocom 2006 a Moscow based
content provider A1 and its partner Huawei Technologies
presented a turn key solution for mobile TV.
The product is for cellular operators.

Nikita Mobile provided services to "You are a movie star!" project
A content provider Nikita Mobile, a producer center
Cinemafor and a film distributor Paradise are launching
a national entertainment project for youth, based on mobile
and Internet technologies. On May 15 2006 a new Russian show
business project Kinozvezda.ru (Movie star) has been started.
The project aims to give a real chance for active youth to
get to the silver screen. In particular, to be chosen for
a key role in a new comedy by Ruslan Baltcer who previously
shot two films with amateur artists. Applications by
SMS, then filling profile with photos by the Internet,
SMS voting for candidates, etc.

PlayFon entered Kazakhstan
PlayFon launched operations in Kazakhstan through two biggest
local GSM operators' networks K'Cell and KaR-Tel. PlayFon's
office located in Almaty will coordinate its activities in
the largest Central Asia country. Kazakhstan became the
seventh state in the list of countries PlayFon offers its
products and services (Russia, UK, Ukraine, Sweden, Lithuania
and Estonia). Currently, the number of subscribers in
Kazakhstan exceeds 5 million people. K'Cell and KaR-Tel
control over 95% of the market. Although the penetration
rate in Kazakhstan stands at 35%, quick subscriber and
prosperity growth suggests Kazakh VAS market being one of
the most promising in the area. "For PlayFon the former USSR
states with Russian language still widely spread and popular
is one of key macro-regions. Similar mentality and taste
preferences of CIS subscribers present a golden opportunity
for introducing effective-proven business models and
promotion practices," said PlayFon's VP Vladimir Borodin.

The mobile portal accessible through Sony Ericsson handsets
menu was launched by PlayFon on March 28, 2006. The core of
this partnership is the development and introduction of
premium interactive services designed for Sony Ericsson
handsets in Russia. In the nearest future the Sony Ericsson
customers will have instant access to best wireless content
on the company's WAP and Web sites. PlayFon's Russian office
assumes the development and technical support of the services,
licensing and product adaptation for existing, upcoming and
future Sony Ericsson models in the Russian market.
